Labor Day

Unlike some states, in Queensland Labor Day is commemorated by a public holiday close to the 1st of May. I’ll be marching on Monday with the local branch of the NTEU. Come and say hello if you’re an LP reader and get to the booze-up afterwards. The big question I have in light of recent controversies here is – what beer should I drink?

I don’t suppose you could drink wine – or perhaps a nice herbal tea?

I think you should go all out and have a Flirtini. Live a little.

    What’s a Flirtini?

    Perhaps a Cosmopolitan because it’s red(ish)?

some sort of premixed martini drink. I have never tried one, so I don’t know how crap they are.

Off topic – in Paris Hilton’s new movie House of Wax: apparently she dies really horribly. Almost as horribly as she acts apparently. (smh.com.au – spike)

Courtesy of my local bottle-o, and Cileo’s strong recommendation, I just had a bottle of Mountain Goat, Hightail Ale.
    Magnificent. Gives you hope.
But at $3.50 a 330ml bottle, it’s not the kind of stuff you would chug a lug after a hard day’s work on the construction site.
But it does put Fosters Inc into perspective.
The prospect of Fosters acquiring SOuthcorp does not bode well for Southcorp’s premium stable. Fosters have stuffed the wine brands they’ve already acquired; now they will have Penfolds at their disposal.
